Peace

Dear friends,

Today we would like to invite you to reflect on the first prayer in the Healing Ceremony by considering peace.

“O Thou, who art all peace, and whose nature is mercy and compassion, send Thy love and Thy peace on the whole of humanity and we pray, unite us all in Thy perfect harmony. Amen." Hazrat Inayat Khan

Peace
This beautiful reading from Murshid addresses peace in the context of healing: "The meditative process is the treatment for all illnesses. The reason is that the manifested life comes from the unmanifested. The unmanifested life is void of all activity and is full of repose; it is peace itself. Therefore the Name of God has been known by the ancients as Salam, which means peace. No remedy, therefore, is greater than peace. Medicines can help, but up to a certain limit. For instance, medicine can help the body, but not the mind; the psychological treatment may help the mind, but not the soul. All these things such as medicine and psychological treatment come from outside, and the patient is dependent upon them, but in the meditative process the patient creates his remedy from himself." SanGatha 1, Tassawuf

Reflections
Read or recite the first prayer several times slowly as you attune to and reflect on how you understand peace and God as all-peace.

Contemplate: What does the term peace and this part of the first prayer mean for me in relation to God’s healing power and to my inner work?

With Loving Greetings from Shakti and Shamsher
